As the days are getting progressively longer and thankfully slightly warmer, we’re taking a look at some of the country’s favourite spring meals which work with the season. So, it’s goodbye to the heavy stews and hello to vibrant lighter meals.
BBC Good Food have a marvellous seasonality chart which is very easy to follow and a useful thing to have on hand while thinking about what to buy and make.
In April we have Asparagus and Lamb just coming into season, as well as Spinach and Rhubarb. But, sadly Rabbit and Purple Sprouting is becoming coming to the end of it’s season

At this time of year, farmers up and down the country will be focusing on calving and tagging, protecting vulnerable newborns from preying foxes, planting potato crops or drilling oilseed rape.
But, make sure that wherever you’re getting your goods from you look out for goods that are domestic and local to us at this change in season.
